Guest bedrooms There are 115 well-appointed individually decorated rooms at Topnotch Resort and Spa. I would not go back.Topnotch Resort and Spa is a luxurious 4-star hotel conveniently located near the center of Stowe. This must mean there really are no good spas in Vermont sadly. I am completely shocked that it gets touted as best spa in Vermont. All in all, it’s just a very average spa. Some of the showers have almost no water pressure so if you have long hair it will take you half an hour to wash your hair. The women’s Jacuzzi has almost no pressure in the jets, so it’s sort of useless. The only massage that was good was the shiatsu. I also got a signature massage and this was just very very average not great. Just didn’t feel like real Lomi Lomi massage. And I’ve had this type of massage in Hawaii before and it was wonderful while I was in Hawaii. It was the most uncomfortable massage I’ve ever had. And then another part of my body I would say: “Ouch! That hurt!” and she would barely respond. I told the masseuse I had a thumb injury and not to touch it but she ended up yanking my thumb and causing tremendous pain. Two out of three of the massages were pretty terrible! The Lomi Lomi Hawaiian massage actually hurt me several times. I stayed At Topnotch resort and got three massages while I was there. It's a tough call, you want to relax and enjoy a quiet day but at the same time don't want to prohibit families from their fun. I'm told that the pools are open to children year round. However, if you are looking to relax by the pool don't expect it. Stay in the lounge area or private hot tub/sauna room. Our final recommendation would be enjoy the spa and all it has to offer. In the end we decided to leave while we still had the glow and relaxation of the massages to remember. Unfortunately, lots of children there as well. We decided to head inside to the indoor pool where we thought it would be quieter. All had towels on them, but no one occupying them. The adult pool while separate is right next to the main pool so the noise carries over. It was filled with families with young children - loud and intrusive. Our experience by the pool was a whole different story, but I'm not sure there is anything that can be done about it. The spa itself is relaxing, upscale and very nice. I'll start with the massages - both of us left very relaxed and incredibly happy! The service in the spa is exceptional. Arrived a little early and sat in the lounge, had our treatments and then headed to the outdoor pool. ![]() We were pleased to get last minute bookings for massages. Took a last minute trip up to Stowe for a "spa day" at Topnotch. ![]() I would have been fine with this if it was mentioned ANYWHERE that this was going to be going on today. ![]() Then, she went over to the pool to conduct a water aerobics class for the next hour which essentially closed the pool. I then saw a lady come over to the hot tub and ask the person in there if she could turn off the waterfall because it was too loud. While taking a break sitting on one of the lounge chairs it started to get crowded. Next, while my wife was getting her treatments I swam in the pool (we were staying at the resort). I will admit I missed the fine print at the bottom of the Spa menu stating this, and might have looked elsewhere if I did see it. When the Spa "for your convenience" adds 22% to your bill for a gratuity before you start anything rubs me the wrong way. First, a gratuity is given for a job well done not for doing your job. My wife had two Spa treatments during the day and was extremely happy with the treatments and the people who gave them, that's the good part. ![]()
